Russell Smith

With 30+ years of insolvency experience, over 25 of which in the Cayman Islands, Russell is a director of BDO Cayman’s corporate recovery and insolvency subsidiary, BDO CRI (Cayman) Ltd.

He has undertaken appointments and engagements which include voluntary, provisional and official liquidation, receivership, court supervised inspectorship, corporate recovery scheme, administration and regulatory body controllership. These include hedge fund, insurance, banking, investment holding and other financial services sector appointments, along with hotel, construction, property and other non-financial services entity engagements. He also undertakes matters of general forensic investigation.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Russell is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (U.K.) and an Associate member of both the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (U.K) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (USA). 

EDUCATION

Russell holds the Joint Insolvency Examination Board qualification (U.K) and has a B.A. (Hons) degree in Economics and Business Administration.
